This 25-cent banknote was issued by the towns of Roubaix and Tourcoing. It belongs to the ninth series of this issue and dates from December 16, 1916.
On the obverse, the face value "0.25" is written in the upper left and right, as well as at the bottom. The words "VILLES DE ROUBAIX ET DE TOURCOING" appear at the top, followed by "BON DE MONNAIE". Below, it reads "NEUVIÈME SÉRIE" and "25 CENTIMES". A guarantee is mentioned, stating that the note is guaranteed by the towns of Roubaix and Tourcoing and redeemable at the revenue office of each town from the sixth month after the conclusion of peace. A deliberation of the Roubaix municipal council of April 21, 1917, and an approval of the prefectural authority of November 2, 1917, are also mentioned. The number "N°514" appears on the note, followed by the mentions "LE MAIRE DE ROUBAIX" and "LE MAIRE DE TOURCOING". A control number, "N° DE CONTRÔLE 31876", is printed. An instruction specifies that to be valid, the note must be stamped with the dry stamp of one of the two cities. The name of the printer, "Louis Debode, Imp, Roubaix", is indicated at the bottom.
On the reverse, the face value "0.25" is repeated at the top and bottom. The words "VILLE DE" are written on the left and right, framing the value "25 CENTIMES". The names "ROUBAIX" and "TOURCOING" also appear, separated by a space.
