This 25 centime banknote was issued by the cities of Roubaix and Tourcoing in France. Dating from December 16, 1916, it belongs to the ninth series of banknotes issued by these cities.
On the obverse, the face value "0.25" is indicated at the top left and right, as well as at the bottom. The inscription "Villes de Roubaix et de Tourcoing" appears at the top, followed by "Bon de Monnaie" and "Neuvième Série". The value "25 Centimes" is printed in the center. The banknote bears the inscription "Guaranteed by the cities of Roubaix and Tourcoing and refundable at the revenue office of each city from the sixth month after the conclusion of peace". The deliberation of the Roubaix municipal council of April 21, 1917 and the approval of the prefectural authority of November 2, 1917 are also mentioned. A serial number "N°514" is visible, as well as the signatures of the mayor of Roubaix and the mayor of Tourcoing. The control number is "36559". An instruction specifies that the banknote must be stamped with the dry stamp of one of the two cities to be valid. The name of the printer, Louis Debode of Roubaix, is also indicated.
The reverse of the banknote shows the value "0.25" at the top and bottom, left and right. The inscriptions "Ville de Roubaix" and "Ville de Tourcoing" frame the value "25 Centimes" located in the center.
This banknote was printed by Imprimerie Louis Debode, located in Roubaix, France. The text is written in Latin.
