This French banknote was issued by the Banque d'Émission de Lille in May 1915. It is a 25 centime note. The text is in Latin script.
On the front, you can read "BANQUE D’ÉMISSION DE LILLE" at the top of the note, followed by "MAI 1915" and the face value "25 CENTIMES". The signatures of the managing director and the president also appear on the front. The mention "SOCIÉTÉ ANONYME AU CAPITAL DE CENT - MILLE FRANCS" is printed at the bottom. Two illustrated frames are located at the bottom left and right. The one on the left bears the inscription "L'INDUSTRIE FÉCONDE LE TRAVAIL", while the one on the right indicates "LA SCIENCE ÉCLAIRE L'INDUSTRIE". The name of the printer, "DELEMAR & DUBAR IMP. LILLE", is also present.
The back of the note contains an excerpt from Article 139 of the Penal Code. This article stipulates that the counterfeiting or falsification of banknotes authorized by law is punishable by forced labor for life. The same penalty applies to those who use or introduce such counterfeit or falsified notes on French territory.
