The 2 Francs Sower coin, minted in 1985, is a French coin with a face value of 2 francs. It is made of nickel, giving it a silver color. It weighs 7.5 grams and its diameter is 26.5 millimeters.
The obverse of the coin features a representation of the Republic in the form of a sower. This female figure, draped and wearing a Phrygian cap, is depicted walking and sowing against the wind. Her long hair floats in the wind. In the background, a rising sun symbolizes hope and renewal. The inscription "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" is inscribed in an arc above the sower, while the signature "D'APRÈS O.ROTY" indicates that the motif is based on a work by Louis-Oscar Roty.
The reverse of the coin features two branches of oak and olive intertwined at their base. These branches symbolize strength and peace respectively. The face value "2 FRANCS" is inscribed in the center of the coin, between the branches. The year of issue, "1985", is shown at the bottom of the coin. The French national motto, "LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE", is inscribed in an octagonal border surrounding the central motif.
The edge of the coin is reeded, meaning it has parallel grooves around its entire circumference.
