The obverse of the coin features a representation of the French Republic in the guise of a sower. This allegorical figure, draped and wearing a Phrygian cap, is characterized by her long hair flowing in the wind. The signature "D'APRES O.ROTY" indicates that the motif is inspired by the original work of Louis-Oscar Roty, a renowned engraver.
