This 2 Francs Semeuse coin, dated 1981, comes from a Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) set. It was minted in France.
The coin is made of nickel, with a weight of 7.5 grams and a diameter of 26.5 millimeters.
The obverse features a representation of the Republic in the form of a sower. This female figure, draped and wearing a Phrygian cap, is depicted walking and sowing seeds into the wind. A rising sun is visible in the background. The legend "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" is inscribed at the top, following the curve of the coin. The signature "D'APRÈS O.ROTY" indicates that the design is based on the original work of Louis-Oscar Roty.
The reverse of the coin features two branches, one of oak and the other of olive, crossed at their base. The face value "2 FRANCS" is placed in the center. The whole is surrounded by an octagonal border inside which is inscribed the motto "LIBERTE ? EGALITE ? FRATERNITE".
The edge of the coin is reeded, with regular vertical grooves on its circumference.
