The 2 Francs Semeuse coin, minted in 1979, is a French coin with a face value of 2 francs. It is made of nickel and weighs 7.5 grams. Its diameter is 26.5 millimeters.
The obverse of the coin features a representation of the Republic in the guise of a Sower (Semeuse). This allegorical figure is draped and wears a Phrygian cap, with long hair flowing in the wind. She is depicted walking and sowing against the wind, with a rising sun visible in the background. The signature "D'APRÈS O.ROTY" indicates that the design is based on a work by Louis-Oscar Roty. The legend "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" is inscribed in capital letters.
The reverse of the coin features two branches of oak and olive, intertwined at their base. These branches frame the face value "2 FRANCS". The whole is surrounded by the republican motto "LIBERTE ? EGALITE ? FRATERNITE", arranged in an octagonal perimeter.
The edge of the coin is reeded. The mintage of this coin in 1979 amounted to 130,040,511 copies.
