The 2 Francs Morlon coin, dated 1935, is a French coin with a nominal value of 2 francs. It is minted by the Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint).
This coin is made of a copper and aluminum alloy. It weighs 8 grams and has a diameter of 27 millimeters.
The obverse of the coin features a bust of the Republic to the left, wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with a cockade, all topped by a composite crown of olive leaves, oak leaves, and ears of wheat. The inscription "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" is written in capital letters around the bust, and the name of the engraver, "MORLON", also appears. Pierre-Alexandre Morlon is the artist who designed this representation of the Republic.
The reverse of the coin features two cornucopias, symbols of prosperity and wealth. The face value, "2 FRANCS", is clearly indicated. The republican motto "LIBERTE-EGALITE-FRATERNITE" is engraved in capital letters. The year of issue, 1935, also appears on the reverse. Pierre-Alexandre Morlon is also the engraver of the reverse.
The edge of the coin is smooth.
The mint mark of the Monnaie de Paris is present on the coin, identifying its place of manufacture. The Monnaie de Paris, located in Paris (and in Pessac from 1973), is the institution responsible for minting French coins since 864.
