Description

Remarks:

This banknote is a two-franc bond issued by the Châteauroux Chamber of Commerce on July 8, 1915. It belongs to series J and bears the number 0989.

The obverse of the banknote features the inscription "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE CHATEAUROUX" in capital letters. The face value, "BON DE DEUX FRANCS", is clearly indicated. The signatures of the Treasurer and the President of the Chamber of Commerce are present, attesting to the validity of the bond. A statement specifies that the issue was approved by the Higher Administration. The name of the printer, "IMP BADEL CHATEAUROUX", also appears on this side.

The reverse of the banknote simply indicates the name of the printer: "Imprimerie Badel, Châteauroux, France". The script used on both sides of the banknote is Latin.

This type of banknote was issued in a particular economic context, during the First World War, when the Chambers of Commerce were authorized to issue emergency money to compensate for the lack of currency.
