Description

This two-franc note issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Boulogne-sur-Mer dates from August 14, 1914. It is a local emergency issue resulting from the exceptional economic and monetary circumstances of the First World War.

The front of the note features several essential inscriptions. At the top, we read the name of the issuing institution: "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE BOULOGNE-SUR-MER". Immediately below, a note specifies the origin of the issue: "Délibération de la Chambre du 14 Août 1914". The face value, "DEUX FRANCS", is clearly indicated in the center of the note. The signatures of the Treasurer and the President of the Chamber of Commerce are affixed, authenticating the issue.

A large number "2" is visible on the left side of the note. The serial number, "352000", as well as the series "A1" are also printed on the front, allowing each issued note to be specifically identified.
