This 2 franc banknote was issued by the Amiens Chamber of Commerce in 1915, in France.
The front of the banknote features, in its upper part, the mention "Chambre de Commerce d'Amiens" in an arc. In the center, the nominal value "2" is written in large print, accompanied by the mention "Deux Francs". Below, we find the mention "Bon pour", followed by the same nominal value "2 Francs". The lower part of the banknote indicates the place and date of issue: "Amiens, le 20 Septembre 1915". The signature of the Secretary and that of the President of the Chamber of Commerce are also present. The banknote number is printed in red on the right side.
On the back, the text "Chambre de Commerce d'Amiens" appears at the top. In the center, the value "2" is repeated, above the mention "Deux Francs". The text specifies the exchange conditions: "Ce bon sera échangé contre espèces à partir du 1er Janvier 1917, conformément à l'arrêté de M. le Préfet de la Somme en date du 18 7bre 1915". At the bottom, we find the mention "Imp. Paul Dècle - Paris".
This emergency banknote was issued in a particular context, during the First World War, to compensate for the lack of currency. It reflects the local economic history of the city of Amiens and the role of the Chambers of Commerce during this period.
