The 1000 Francs banknote, Richelieu type, issued on December 2, 1954, is part of a series identified by the code B.87. This banknote is a testimony to the French monetary history of the mid-20th century.
On the front, the banknote features a portrait of Cardinal Richelieu, facing right. In the background of this portrait, a representation of the Palais Royal is visible. The words "BANQUE DE FRANCE" are inscribed in the upper left, while the face value "MILLE FRANCS" appears below. All inscriptions are written in the Latin alphabet.
The back of the banknote also features Cardinal Richelieu, this time with a bust facing left. To the right of this bust, a monumental gate, characteristic of the city of Richelieu, is depicted. As on the front, the mention "BANQUE DE FRANCE" is present in the upper left, accompanied by the face value "1000". A legal inscription, referring to Article 139 of the Penal Code, warns against counterfeiting and falsification of banknotes, as well as the use of such counterfeit banknotes. This inscription is also written in the Latin alphabet.
The dimensions of the banknote are 150 millimeters in length and 80 millimeters in width.
