Description

This French banknote with a face value of 100 francs was issued on May 2, 1940. It belongs to series L.10268.

The front of the banknote features a bust of a laureate woman, an allegory of France. This figure holds the baton of command in her right hand. With her left hand, she picks fruits and flowers offered by a child, symbolizing Youth. The background offers an aerial view of Paris, where Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Seine are clearly visible.

The inscriptions on the front, written in Latin script, read "100 BANQUE DE FRANCE 100" and "CENT FRANCS". Ernest Deloche is credited as the engraver of this banknote, while Lucien Hector Jonas is the designer.

The back of the banknote depicts Sully, represented on the right holding a parchment. The background consists of a picturesque rural landscape, evoking pastures. The dimensions of this banknote are 180 mm in length and 92 mm in width. Its weight is one gram.
