The 100 Francs banknote, issued on February 24, 1938, belongs to the Z.57966 series. This banknote is a fiduciary representation of the Banque de France.
On the obverse, the banknote features allegorical personifications of Agriculture and Commerce, placed respectively to the right and left of the central motif. These figures are accompanied by two children, and the whole is embellished with representations of fruits and decorative plant elements. The perimeter of the banknote is adorned with golden moldings, adding to the overall aesthetics. The inscription "BANQUE DE FRANCE" is clearly visible, followed by the face value "CENT FRANCS" and the mention "PAYABLES EN ESPECES, A VUE, AU PORTEUR". The signature "LVC OLIVIER MERSON DEL ROMAGNOL SC" indicates the artists involved in its design.
The reverse of the banknote depicts personifications of Labor, symbolized by a blacksmith placed on the left, and Fortune, represented by a woman and a child holding a cornucopia on the right. As on the obverse, golden moldings frame the central motif, harmonizing the overall visual.
The banknote is of the type written in the Latin alphabet. The dimensions of the banknote are 180 mm in length and 112 mm in width. The engraver of this banknote is Cesare Abramo Romagnoli, while the design is the work of Luc Olivier Merson. The weight of the banknote is one gram.
