The 1958 100 Francs Cochet coin is a French coin with a face value of 100 francs. It is struck in cupro-nickel, an alloy of copper and nickel, and weighs 6 grams with a diameter of 24 millimeters.
The obverse of the coin features a bust of Marianne facing right. Marianne wears a Phrygian cap, adorned with a cockade, and holds a lit torch. Behind Marianne's head, the distinctive mark "R in a C" can be observed. The circular legend reads "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE", and the engraver's signature, "CR", is also present.
The reverse of the coin features a composition of plant motifs. A sheaf, composed of ears of wheat and olive branches, is arranged on the right. The mint mark is discreetly placed between the olive branches. The inscriptions "LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE" are arranged in an arc above the sheaf, while the face value "100 FRANCS" and the year "1958" are shown below. The engraver's signature, "R COCHET", is also visible on this side.
The edge of the coin is reeded. The principal engraver of this coin is Robert Cochet. The orientation of the motifs and inscriptions is medal type.
