This 10 franc banknote was issued by the cities of Roubaix and Tourcoing, dated April 20, 1916, and belongs to the seventh series of their local monetary issues. The front of the banknote features a red frame adorned with leaf motifs. The face value, "10fs.", is inscribed in circles located in the four corners of the banknote. In the center, at the top, is a representation of Marianne in a circle. A red rectangle dominates the center of the banknote, where the value "DIX FRANCS" is written in white.
The front bears the inscription "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" at the top, followed by "VILLES DE ROUBAIX ET DE TOURCOING" and "BON DE MONNAIE". It specifies that this banknote is "GARANTI PAR LES VILLES DE ROUBAIX ET DE TOURCOING" and "REMBOURSABLE A LA RECETTE MUNICIPALE DE CHAQUE VILLE A PARTIR DU SIXIÈME MOIS APRÈS 'LA CONCLUSION DE LA PAIX'". The deliberation of the Roubaix Municipal Council of April 20, 1916 is mentioned, followed by the signature of the Mayor of Roubaix and the 1st Deputy acting as Mayor, as well as the Mayor of Tourcoing. A note indicates that the banknote must be stamped with the dry stamp of one of the two cities to be valid. The printer, Louis Debode of Roubaix, is also mentioned, with the mention "Modèle Déposé".
The back of the banknote is framed in green. In the center, a circle contains the penal sanctions for counterfeiting, referring to Article 139 of the penal code which punishes counterfeiters of banknotes authorized by law, as well as those who use or introduce them on French territory, with forced labor for life. On the left is the coat of arms of the City of Roubaix and on the right, that of the City of Tourcoing. A dry stamp is also present on the back. The printer of this banknote is Imprimerie Louis Debode, located in Roubaix, France.
