The 10 Francs Turin coin, minted in 1945, is a French coin with a nominal value of 10 francs. It is composed of copper and nickel, giving it a specific color and durability. The coin weighs 7 grams and has a diameter of 26 millimeters.
The obverse of the coin features the right profile of Marianne, an allegorical symbol of the French Republic. Marianne is wearing the Phrygian cap, a soft cap worn during the French Revolution, and adorned with a wreath. The inscription "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE" is written around her profile, and the signature "P.TURIN" of the engraver Pierre Turin also appears on this side.
The reverse of the coin depicts two ears of wheat framing the face value "10 FRANCS". The French motto "LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE" is inscribed below. The year of issue, 1945, also appears on this side. As on the obverse, the signature of the engraver Pierre Turin is present.
The edge of the coin is reeded, meaning it has parallel grooves on its circumference. The coin was minted at the Monnaie de Paris workshop, whose mint mark is affixed to the coin. The Monnaie de Paris workshop is located in Paris, and since 1973, part of the production has been carried out in Pessac.
This version of the 10 Francs Turin coin is characterized by its short branches, a particularity that distinguishes it from other versions of the same coin.
