This French banknote was issued on March 2, 1978. It is a 10 franc note, designed and printed by the Banque de France. The note belongs to the P.303 series.
The front of the banknote features the composer Hector Berlioz, born in 1803 and died in 1869. Berlioz's portrait is accompanied by a representation of the facade of the Paris Opera, an emblematic place of music and spectacle in France.
On the back of the banknote, there is a rural scene evoking the composer's childhood. This scene represents a view of La Côte-Saint-André, a French commune located in the Isère department, where Berlioz spent part of his youth. The drawing includes typical characters and landscapes of the region. The dominant color of the note is green, both on the front and back, which gives it a distinct visual identity.
The banknote's watermark also represents Hector Berlioz. The banknote incorporates security features to prevent counterfeiting.
The face value of the note is 10 francs. It was put into circulation in France at a time when this value represented a significant sum for everyday transactions. The note has been withdrawn from circulation and is no longer legal tender. Its current value is mainly numismatic.
