This 1 franc coin, dated 1993, comes from a set and is in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition. It is struck in nickel, with a weight of 4.5 grams and a diameter of 19.5 millimeters.
The obverse of the coin depicts the Republic in the form of a sower. This female figure, draped and wearing a Phrygian cap, is depicted walking and sowing against the wind. Her long hair floats in the wind. In the background, a rising sun is located to the right of the sower. The engraver's signature, O. ROTY, is inscribed in hollow under the figure.
The reverse of the coin displays the face value, "1 / FRANC", arranged on two lines. This inscription is placed above an olive branch oriented to the left. Below, the year of issue, 1986, is framed by the mint marks. The Republican motto, "LIBERTE, EGALITE, FRATERNITE", is inscribed in an arc around the central elements.
The edge of the coin is smooth. The engravers responsible for the design of this coin are Louis-Oscar Roty, for both the obverse and the reverse.
