Description

This coin is a subdivision of the French franc, with a nominal value of 1/2 franc. It was minted in 1980. The metal used for its manufacture is nickel. It weighs 3 grams and has a diameter of 4.5 millimeters.

The obverse of the coin features the Sower, an allegorical symbol of the French Republic. The legend "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" is inscribed on this side, along with the signature of the engraver, O. Roty.

The reverse of the coin features an olive branch placed under the face value "1/2 FRANC". This composition is surrounded by the republican motto "LIBERTE, EGALITE, FRATERNITE". The year of issue, "1980", also appears on this side. As with the obverse, the writing used is Latin. Louis-Oscar Roty is the engraver responsible for the design of the reverse.

The edge of the coin is reeded.
