This 1 franc coin, minted in 1984, comes from a Fleur de Coin (FDC) set. It is made of nickel, weighs 6 grams and has a diameter of 24 millimeters.
The obverse of the coin depicts the Republic as a sower. This female figure, draped and wearing a Phrygian cap, is shown walking and sowing against the wind. Her long hair floats in the wind as she scatters the seeds. In the background, on the right, a rising sun symbolizes hope and renewal. The engraver's signature, O. ROTY, is discreetly inscribed in hollow under the figure of the sower.
The reverse of the coin displays the face value, "1 / FRANC", arranged on two lines. These inscriptions surmount an olive branch turned to the left, a symbol of peace and prosperity. Below, the year 1960 is framed by the different, distinctive marks of the mint and the engraver. The republican motto, "LIBERTE, EGALITE, FRATERNITE", is inscribed in an arc, underlining the fundamental values of the French Republic.
The edge of the coin is smooth, without inscriptions or motifs.
The engraver of this coin is Louis-Oscar Roty.
