The 1 Franc Semeuse coin, dated 1981, is a French production in nickel. It weighs 6 grams and has a diameter of 24 millimeters. This coin was specially taken from a Fleur de Coin (FDC) set, guaranteeing optimal conservation.
The obverse of the coin depicts the Republic as a sower, an allegorical figure created by Louis-Oscar Roty. The sower, draped and wearing a Phrygian cap, is depicted walking and sowing against the wind. Her long hair floats in the wind. In the background, a rising sun appears behind her to the right. The signature "O. Roty" is engraved in hollow beneath the figure.
The reverse of the coin displays the face value "1 FRANC" in two lines, above an olive branch turned to the left. Below, the year "1960" is framed by the mint marks and the engraver's mark. The republican motto "LIBERTE, EGALITE, FRATERNITE" is inscribed in an arc.
The edge of the coin is smooth. The engraver responsible for the design of this coin is Louis-Oscar Roty.
