Description
The 1979 1/2 Franc Semeuse coin depicts on its obverse the famous Semeuse (Sower), an allegorical figure of the French Republic, walking and sowing seeds in the wind. Around her is the inscription « REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE », accompanied by the signature of the engraver Louis-Oscar Roty. This motif embodies the progress and continuity of the nation.
