The obverse of the coin depicts the Sower, a symbol of the French Republic, designed by Louis-Oscar Roty. The inscription "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" is written in capital letters around the figure of the Sower, and the artist's name, "O. Roty", is also present.
The reverse of the coin features an olive branch placed under the face value "1 FRANC". The motto of France, "LIBERTE, EGALITE, FRATERNITE", is inscribed in capital letters around the olive branch. The engraver of this part of the coin is also Louis-Oscar Roty.
