Description

This coin is a French silver franc, dating from 1903. It has a face value of one franc and was issued in France.

The obverse of the coin depicts the Sower (La Semeuse), an allegorical figure associated with the French Republic. The legend "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" is inscribed in capital letters, and the signature "O. Roty" indicates the name of the engraver, Louis-Oscar Roty.

The reverse of the coin features an olive branch located below the face value "1 FRANC". The national motto "LIBERTE, EGALITE, FRATERNITE" is engraved around the central motif. The year of issue, "1903", also appears on the reverse. Louis-Oscar Roty is credited as the engraver.

The edge of the coin is reeded. It weighs 4.92 grams and its diameter measures 23 millimeters. The fineness is silver.
