This 1 Franc banknote was issued by the City of Le Havre and the Chamber of Commerce of Le Havre in 1915. It is a type of local currency issued in France during World War I.
On the front, the banknote features a frame adorned with geometric patterns. In the center, there are two medallions, each supported by columns. The Latin inscriptions read "VILLE DU HAVRE" and "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DU HAVRE". The face value "UN FRANC" is also mentioned, along with the signatures of the President of the Chamber of Commerce and the Mayor of the City of Le Havre. A note specifies that the issue was approved by the Higher Administration. A clause indicates that these notes can be exchanged for banknotes of the Bank of France.
The reverse of the banknote contains a Latin inscription stating that the City of Le Havre and the Chamber of Commerce of the City of Le Havre may request a decree setting a maximum period of five years, from the date of said decree, during which the banknotes still in circulation must be presented for reimbursement.
The banknote does not have a watermark. Its dimensions are 119 mm in length and 79 mm in width.
