This 1 franc banknote was issued by the Paris Chamber of Commerce on March 10, 1920. It belongs to series A.30 and bears the number 013.457. The front of the banknote features ornamental plant motifs, adorned with a winged caduceus integrated into a medallion positioned on the left. On the right, another medallion depicts the head of Mercury, recognizable by his winged helmet, a symbol of commerce and communication.
The main inscriptions on the front include the denomination "CHAMBRE de COMMERCE de PARIS" in capital letters, followed by the indication of the value "UN FRANC". The initials "CPC" are also found, as well as the face value "1" repeated on either side of the central text. The series "A.30" and the banknote number are clearly printed. The signature of G. FRAIPONT, the designer, is also present, as well as the mention "G. FRAIPONT IMP CHAIX PARIS", indicating the printer.
On the back, the banknote offers a view of the Île de la Cité, an emblematic place in Paris. A medallion adorned with vegetation frames a ship, a heraldic motif. The text specifies that the banknotes in circulation were exchangeable for banknotes of the Banque de France until July 1, 1922, in accordance with the deliberation of the Paris Chamber of Commerce dated March 10, 1920. The face value "1" is also repeated on the back.
This banknote does not have a watermark. It was printed by Imprimerie Chaix, established in Paris, a company in operation from 1845 to 1965.
