Description

This 1 Franc banknote was issued on June 1, 1920 by the Chambers of Commerce of Orléans and Blois. It is a necessity banknote, issued in a particular economic context after the First World War.

On the obverse, the inscription "CHAMBRES DE COMMERCE D'ORLÉANS ET DE BLOIS" is written at the top of the banknote. The face value "UN FRANC" appears in the central position. A serial number, here "007.710", is printed on the banknote. The signatures of the presidents of the Chambers of Commerce of Blois and Orléans are also present. The date of issue, "June 1, 1920", is clearly indicated. The name of the printer, "IMP. P. PIGELET ET FILS - ORLEANS", appears at the bottom of the banknote.

The reverse of the banknote features the inscription "SOUS-REGION ECONOMIQUE D'ORLEANS" at the top. The face value "1Fr" is written in large letters. The watermark represents bees, a symbolic motif often associated with work and industry.

The banknote was printed by Tardy - Pigelet & fils, a printer based in Bourges, France. The script used on the banknote is Latin, the administrative language of the time. This type of banknote testifies to the local initiatives taken to compensate for the shortages of currency during this period.
