Description

This 1 Franc banknote was issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Eure-et-Loir in 1915. It is an emergency issue, implemented during the First World War to address the shortage of liquidity.

The front of the banknote mentions the issuing institution: CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE D'EURE ET LOIR. The face value of ONE FRANC is clearly indicated. The issue date, 01-10-1915, is also present. The signatures of the President and Treasurer appear on the banknote, attesting to its validity. The mention Guaranteed by a deposit at the Banque de France reassures the holders as to the value of the banknote. The name of the printer, E. TROCHARD CHARTRES, is also mentioned.

The back of the banknote includes the year of issue, 1915. The redemption conditions are specified: These bonds will be redeemable in banknotes at the Banque de France in Chartres at any time, until October 1, 1920, in groups of at least ten of each denomination Issued October 1, 1915 for 5 years. This mention indicates that the banknotes could be exchanged for banknotes of the Banque de France in Chartres, in groups of ten, until October 1, 1920. The printer, Imprimerie E. Trochard, Chartres, France, is mentioned again.

All inscriptions are written in Latin.
