This 50 centime banknote was issued by the Lorient Chamber of Commerce, in the Morbihan department, France, in 1920. It belongs to Series D.
The front of the banknote features a central oval framed by geometric and vegetal motifs. Heraldic shields are arranged in the four corners as well as on the upper part of the banknote. On either side of a crowned ermine spot, two other heraldic shields are present. The inscriptions "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE LORIENT (MORBIHAN)", "ÉMISSION DU 30 aVRIL 1920", "BON DE 50 CENTIMES", and the mention of Series D followed by an identification number can be read. The signature of the President and Vice-Presidents of the Lorient Chamber of Commerce is also visible. The mention "OBERTHUR - RENNES" indicates the printer.
The back of the banknote displays a central oval integrated into a frame adorned with vegetal motifs. The face value "0.50f" is repeated several times. The text specifies that the bonds issued by the Lorient Chamber of Commerce are exchangeable for banknotes of the Banque de France in multiples of twenty and that their reimbursement is guaranteed by a deposit of equal value at the Banque de France, in the name of the Lorient Chamber of Commerce.
