This 1 Franc banknote was issued in 1915 by the Chamber of Commerce of Lorient, in the Morbihan department of France. It is part of Series A.
The obverse of the note features a frame decorated with geometric and floral patterns. There is a heraldic shield in each corner of the frame, as well as a similar shield on the upper part of the note. On either side of a crowned ermine spot are two other heraldic shields. The face value, "UN FRANC", is highlighted. It also reads "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE LORIENT (MORBIHAN)", "EMISSION DU 3 SEPTEMBRE 1915", and the serial number "420589". The signatures of the President and Vice-Presidents of the Chamber of Commerce of Lorient also appear on this side. The name of the printer, "OBERTHUR - RENNES", is mentioned at the bottom right.
The reverse of the note is also framed with floral patterns. The inscription specifies that the bonds issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Lorient will be exchanged, in multiples of twenty, for banknotes of the Bank of France.
