This 50-cent note was issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Lorient, in the Morbihan department, on September 3, 1915. It is a voucher, not a traditional banknote.
The obverse of the note features an oval motif framed by geometric and vegetal shapes. We observe the presence of heraldic shields: one at each corner of the frame, one on the central upper part, and two others on either side of a crowned ermine spot. The mention "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE LORIENT (MORBIHAN)" appears at the top of the motif. The value "BON DE 50 CENTIMES" is also indicated, accompanied by the serial number "358417". The signatures of the President and Vice-Presidents of the Lorient Chamber of Commerce are affixed. The mention "OBERTHUR - RENNES" appears, indicating the printer.
The reverse of the note features an oval motif in a frame adorned with vegetal patterns. The value "0.50f" is repeated four times around the central motif. It can be read that the vouchers issued by the Lorient Chamber of Commerce were exchangeable for banknotes from the Banque de France in lots of twenty or multiples of twenty. It is specified that their reimbursement was guaranteed by a deposit of equal value at the Banque de France, in the name of the Lorient Chamber of Commerce.
This note has no watermark. The text is written in Latin.
