This 1 Franc banknote was issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Lorient, in the Morbihan department, on September 3, 1915. It is a voucher for a value of one franc.
The front of the banknote features a frame decorated with geometric and floral patterns. A heraldic shield is positioned in each of the four corners of the banknote, as well as an additional shield located on the central upper part. On either side of a crowned ermine spot, two other heraldic shields are present. The main text reads "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE LORIENT (MORBIHAN)" and "EMISSION DU 3 SEPTEMBRE 1915". The serial number, "692409", is also printed. Signatures, attributed to the President and Vice-Presidents of the Chamber of Commerce of Lorient, appear on the banknote. The printer mentioned is Oberthur of Rennes.
The back of the banknote features a frame decorated with floral patterns. The inscription specifies that the vouchers issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Lorient are exchangeable for banknotes of the Bank of France in multiples of twenty. It is also indicated that the reimbursement of these vouchers is guaranteed by a deposit of equal value at the Bank of France, in the name of the Chamber of Commerce of Lorient.
This banknote does not have a watermark. It was printed by Oberthur (Oberthur Fiduciaire; F. C. Oberthur), a printing company based in Rennes, France, and active from 1842 to 1983.
