This 1 Franc banknote, issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Béziers, dates from 1918 and bears the serial number XE 31.57. The front of the banknote displays the face value "UN FRANC" in capital letters. It also features the issue number 03.932, as well as the signatures of the treasurer and the president of the Chamber of Commerce. The inscription "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE BEZIERS" is clearly visible, accompanied by the mention "DELIBERATION DE LA CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DU 19 NOV. 1918". A clause specifies that the banknote is "ÉCHANGEABLE A VUE CONTRE DES BILLETS DE LA BANQUE DE FRANCE" (exchangeable on sight for banknotes of the Bank of France).
The back of the banknote repeats the face value "UN FRANC". An important indication stipulates that "Ce billet devra être présenté au remboursement avant le premier janvier 1922 sauf décision prolongeant ce délai." (This banknote must be presented for reimbursement before January 1, 1922, unless a decision extends this deadline). The names of the printers, MAGROU INV. and CADENAT FRÈRE, are inscribed there.
The banknote is the work of the designer Jean Marie Joseph Magrou. It has no watermark. The printing was done by Cadenat Frères in Béziers, France. All inscriptions are written in Latin.
