This 1 franc banknote was issued by the Belfort Chamber of Commerce in France on July 28, 1917. It belongs to Series L 112. The banknote has an identification number, here 12,880.
On the front, the banknote features a geometric frame. It includes a representation of the obverse and reverse of a 1 franc Sower coin dating from 1915. In the background, the Lion of Belfort is visible.
The inscriptions in French include: "1F 1F", "Chambre de commerce de Belfort", "Délibération du 28 juillet 1917", "Un franc", "Série L 112" followed by the banknote number. The printer's mention "IMP B.ARNAUD LYON_PARIS" is also present.
On the back, we can read: "1 franc". An inscription specifies that the counter-value of these bonds is deposited in the treasury and that their reimbursement is carried out at the public funds within the district of the Belfort Chamber of Commerce. It is also indicated that the banknotes must be presented for reimbursement before July 29, 1922, unless a extension is decided. The functions "Le trésorier" (The treasurer) and "Le président" (The president) are mentioned, without indication of the names.
The printer of this banknote is B. Arnaud, based in Villeurbanne, France. This printing company was in operation from 1898 to 1990.
