This emergency banknote was issued by the Nantes Chamber of Commerce in 1919. Its face value is one franc.
The obverse of the note features the inscription "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE NANTES" in capital letters, followed by the words "BON DE UN FRANC". It also bears the signatures of the Head of Accounting and the Treasurer. A serial number, "CE 61947", is printed on the same side. The inscription "IMP MODERNE NANTES" indicates the printer.
The reverse of the note bears an inscription specifying the terms of repayment. It stipulates that the vouchers must be presented to the Cashier before December 31, 1924, otherwise they will be forfeited. The name of the printer, "Imprimerie Moderne De Nantes (Beuchet & Vanden Brugge)", is also mentioned on the reverse.
This type of banknote was produced in a particular economic context, probably due to a shortage of currency in circulation. The Imprimerie Moderne De Nantes, led by Beuchet & Vanden Brugge, was located in France.
