Description

This 1 Franc banknote was issued on August 17, 1914 by the Chamber of Commerce of Limoges, in France. It represents a nominal value of 1 Franc.

The banknote is printed in blue on a pink background. It should be noted that there is no watermark in its design. Two signatures appear on the banknote, one entitled "The President" and the other "By Delegation, Vice-President". A serial number in black is also present.

The back of the banknote is printed in blue on a white background. In the lower right, we find the mention "IMP. P. DUMONT, Limoges", indicating the printer responsible for its manufacture.

This banknote bears witness to an era when local Chambers of Commerce had the capacity to issue currency, especially in contexts of crisis or cash shortage. The absence of a watermark and the two-color printing suggest a simplified production, probably linked to the circumstances of the time.

The presence of the signatures of the President and the Vice-President by delegation reinforces the official character of this local issue. The P. Dumont printing house of Limoges, mentioned on the banknote, was likely a local company responsible for meeting the printing needs of the Chamber of Commerce.
