This one-franc banknote was issued by the Dijon Chamber of Commerce in 1917, belonging to the third series of this issue. The front of the note features an ornate frame. The central background consists of the inscription "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE DIJON". An allegorical representation of Commerce appears on the left, in the form of a draped woman holding a rudder and a ledger resting on a cornucopia. On the right, an allegorical figure of Industry is represented by a draped woman holding a hammer on an anvil.
The inscriptions "DÉLIBÉRATION DU 6 Août 1917", "UN FRANC TROISIEME SÉRIE", "CCD Le Trésorier Le Président CCD", and "ÉMISSION GARANTIE PAR LE DÉPÔT DE LA CONTRE-VALEUR DU TRÉSOR" are also present on the front. The printer's name, "IMP. G. GERIN DIJON", is mentioned at the bottom.
The back of the note features a similar ornate frame. The central background also displays the inscription "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DE DIJON". Tendrils form a diamond, the ends of which are adorned with medallions. These medallions represent the head of Mercury on the left and right, a female head at the top, and the stamp of the Dijon Chamber of Commerce at the bottom, featuring the crowned coat of arms of the city.
The inscription "1 FRANC" is clearly visible. It also includes the mention "CE BILLET DEVRA ÊTRE PRÉSENTÉ AU REMBOURSEMENT AUX CAISSES PUBLIQUES AVANT LE 6 Août 1922" and "CHAMBRE DE COMMERCE DIJON". The note does not have a watermark.
This banknote was printed by Imprimerie G. Gérin, located in Dijon, France.
