This 1 Franc banknote was issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Creuse, France, following the deliberation of July 27, 1915. It is part of Series A and bears the mention of its approval by the higher administration.
On the front, the note clearly displays the designation of the issuing institution, "CHAMBRE de COMMERCE de la CREUSE", as well as the nominal value "UN FRANC". The signatures of the President and Treasurer are also present, attesting to its validity. The mention "1 Franc - Emission approved by the higher administration - 1 Franc" is repeated, emphasizing the official approval of this issue.
The back features frames adorned with decorative motifs. In the center is the coat of arms of Guéret, framed by two laurel branches and surmounted by a crown. The inscriptions "CHAMBRE de COMMERCE de la CREUSE" and the dates "1915 - 1920" are also present.
An important clause is stipulated: "This note, guaranteed by a deposit of an equal sum at the Banque de France, is always exchangeable at the counters of its branches in Guéret and Aubusson by five francs or multiples of five against banknotes of the Banque de France and must, under penalty of prescription, be presented for reimbursement before August 2, 1920". This statement specifies the exchange conditions and the deadline for reimbursement of the note.
At the bottom of the note, we find the mention "1 - 1" and the name of the printer, "IMP. P. DUMONT. LIMOGES", indicating the company responsible for its printing: the Imprimerie Pierre Dumont, located in Limoges, France.
