Description

This French coin is a one centime franc, struck in bronze, and dated 1862. It was produced by the Bordeaux mint, identified by the letter "K". It has a diameter of 15 millimeters and weighs one gram. The mintage of this coin is 7,293,840 copies.

The obverse of the coin features the portrait of Napoleon III with a laurel head. One end of the laurel ribbon descends on his neck. The circular legend reads "NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR", and the engraver's name "BARRE" is also visible. The year of issue, "1862", is inscribed below the bust.

The reverse of the coin features an imperial eagle with outstretched wings, its head turned to the right. The eagle rests on a thunderbolt. Above the eagle, the legend "EMPIRE FRANÇAIS" can be read. The mint mark "k" is present, above the face value "UN CENTIME", framed by two stars.

The edge of the coin is smooth. This coin type was issued after the victorious campaign in Italy.
