Description

This coin is a one centime from France, minted in bronze, dating from 1854. It was produced at the Lyon mint, identified by the letter "D". The coin weighs one gram and its diameter is 15 millimeters. The edge of the coin is smooth.

The obverse of the coin features the portrait of Napoleon III, bare head. A Latin inscription "NAPOLEON III EMPEREUR" is engraved around the portrait. The name of the engraver, "BARRE", is also indicated. The year of issue, 1854, also appears on this side.

The reverse of the coin depicts an imperial eagle. A Latin inscription "EMPIRE FRANÇAIS" is present, as well as the face value of the coin, "* UN CENTIME *". The engraver of this side is also Jacques-Jean Barre.
