Description

The 1 centime coin, minted in France in 1971, is a coin with a nominal value of 1 centime. It is made of steel and weighs 1.65 grams. Its diameter is 15 millimeters.

The obverse of the coin features an ear of wheat, around which is the inscription in cursive writing "république française". The design of this side is the work of Marcel Guilleminet. Some coins have a particular feature: a rim, an outgrowth of material, visible at the base of the right leaf of the ear.

The reverse of the coin features the number "1", representing the nominal value, framed by the minting date "1971" and the inscription in cursive writing "centime". The designer of this side is also Marcel Guilleminet.

The edge of the coin is smooth, without inscriptions or motifs. The mintage of this coin in 1971 amounted to 3,082,000 copies.
