Description

The 1 Dupuis cent coin, minted in France in 1903, is a bronze coin. It weighs 1 gram and has a diameter of 15 millimeters. Its mintage is 2,000,000 copies.

The obverse of the coin features a bust of Liberty facing right. Liberty wears a Phrygian cap, adorned with a wreath of oak leaves and ears of wheat. The engraver's signature, DANIEL-DUPUIS, is discreetly inscribed in relief under the bust. The legend "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" is inscribed in capital letters, following the curvature of the upper edge of the coin.

The reverse of the coin indicates the face value "1 CENTIME" in the center, with the year "1903" located below. The whole is surrounded by an olive branch, a symbol of peace and prosperity. The republican motto "LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE" is inscribed in capital letters around the edge of the coin.

The edge of the coin is smooth, without inscription or particular motif. The engraver of this coin is Jean-Baptiste-Daniel Dupuis.
