Description

The 1 centime Dupuis coin, minted in France in 1899, is a coin with a nominal value of 1 centime. It is struck in bronze, with a weight of 1 gram and a diameter of 15 millimeters.

The obverse of the coin features a bust of Liberty facing right. Liberty is wearing a Phrygian cap, adorned with a crown of oak and wheat leaves. The engraver's signature, DANIEL-DUPUIS, is discreetly inscribed in hollow under the bust. The circular legend "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" completes the main motif.

The reverse of the coin displays the nominal value "1 CENTIME" in the center, with the year below. The whole is surrounded by an olive branch, a symbol of peace and prosperity. The Republican motto "LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE" is inscribed in an arc above, highlighting the fundamental values of the French Republic.

The edge of the coin is smooth, without any inscription or particular motif. The mintage of this coin in 1899 amounts to 1,500,000 copies.
