Description
The 1892 A Ceres 1 centime coin, minted in Paris (workshop identified by the letter "A"), belongs to the bronze issues of the French Third Republic. It weighs approximately 1 gram and measures 15 mm in diameter. On the obverse, the bust of Ceres, Roman goddess of agriculture, is adorned with a crown of ears of wheat, oak leaves, and olive branches, surrounded by the legend "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE". The reverse bears the value "1 CENTIME", the year "1892", the mint mark "A", and a fasces placed under the date, a symbol of republican authority. A laurel wreath frames the inscription. This fasces privy mark characterizes a variant engraved by Jean Lagrange.
