The 1 centime Ceres 1878 A coin, minted in Paris (identified by the letter "A"), is part of the bronze coinage of the French Third Republic. It weighs approximately 1 gram and measures 15 mm in diameter. The obverse depicts the bust of Ceres, Roman goddess of agriculture, wearing a crown composed of ears of wheat, oak leaves and olive branches, surrounded by the legend "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE". The reverse features the value "1 CENTIME", the year "1878", the mint mark "A", and a laurel wreath encircling the inscription. The anchor privy mark, visible under the date, identifies the general engraver Jean Lagrange, still in office at the Paris Mint during this period.
