The 1877 A Ceres 1 centime coin, minted in Paris (mint identified by the letter "A"), belongs to the bronze issues of the French Third Republic. Weighing approximately 1 gram and with a diameter of 15 mm, it features on the obverse the bust of Ceres, a mythological figure of agriculture, wearing a crown composed of ears of wheat, oak leaves and olive branches, a symbol of prosperity, strength and peace, surrounded by the legend "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE". The reverse indicates the value "1 CENTIME", the year "1877", the letter "A" for the Paris mint, and a laurel wreath decoration. The anchor-shaped mint mark, placed under the date, corresponds to the engraver general Jean Lagrange, then stationed at the Paris Mint.
