This 5 dollar banknote was issued by the East Caribbean States in 1965. It belongs to series D and is legal tender in the territory of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Authority.
On the front of the banknote is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II positioned on the right. In the center, a representation of a flying fish is visible. A geographical map is printed on the left of the banknote. The words "EAST CARIBBEAN CURRENCY AUTHORITY" are printed at the top of the banknote. The inscriptions "THESE NOTES ARE LEGAL TENDER FOR THE PAYMENT OF ANY AMOUNT" and "FIVE DOLLARS" also appear on the front.
The back of the banknote features a coastal scene. It shows a rocky coastline adorned with trees. The watermark also represents Queen Elizabeth II.
The dimensions of this banknote are 145 millimeters in length and 69 millimeters in width.
Queen Elizabeth II, an emblematic figure of the Commonwealth, is therefore represented both as the main portrait and as a watermark, underlining her role as symbolic head of state for the East Caribbean States at the time of the issue of this banknote.
