The 100 Francs banknote from the French Coast of Somalia, issued in 1952, belongs to the P.109 series. It measures 131 mm in length and 84 mm in width.
The front of the banknote features a dominant green print, enhanced by a multicolored underprint and blue texts. The serial numbers are printed in black. The design includes stylized corals positioned on the left and center of the banknote. A watermark area is located at the bottom right. The inscriptions are written in French, Arabic, and Amharic, indicating the face value of "CENT FRANCS" and mentions in Arabic and Amharic translating the same value. It also includes the denomination "CÔTE FRANÇAISE DES SOMALIS" as well as the mention "TRÉSOR PUBLIC". The names of the engravers, W. FEL and A. MARLIAT, are also mentioned.
The back of the banknote features a green print with a multicolored underprint. The central motif is a palm tree. As on the front, the texts are in French, Arabic, and Amharic. The value "CENT FRANCS" is repeated in the three languages, as well as the denomination "CÔTE FRANÇAISE DES SOMALIS" and the mention "TRÉSOR PUBLIC". A legal inscription is present, indicating that counterfeiters and those who use counterfeit banknotes will be punished with forced labor for life. The names of the engravers W. FEL and BAUDIER are also indicated.
