This 100 Francs banknote was issued by the Banque de l'Indochine in 1920 for Djibouti. The banknote belongs to the X.4 series.
The front of the banknote features a brown print. The serial numbers are printed in black. It depicts a scene with two reclining women accompanied by an ox and a tiger. Columns adorned with elephant motifs are present on the left and right of the central scene. Texts are printed in French, Arabic, and Amharic.
The inscriptions on the front include legal notices regarding counterfeiting, the name of the issuing bank, the place and date of issue, and the face value of the banknote. The names of the administrators and artists involved in the design of the banknote are also mentioned: A-Bramtot and G. Duval for the design, and Ch. Wullschleger for the engraving.
The back of the banknote is also printed in brown and features a central circular motif with squares arranged in the corners. There is a text in French that recalls the penalties provided by Article 139 of the Penal Code for counterfeiting or falsifying banknotes. The name of the issuing bank, Banque de l'Indochine, is also mentioned.
The watermark of the banknote depicts a woman's head.
